elev8
Hey homies,What coal brands do you think last the longest, and where can they be bought online? Thanks and take care of yourself
WRXtreme808
Exotic coals and three kings. You'd be able to get off any hookah website even in the vendors on this forums. Check um out!
Neil's butt boy.
I get 60 mins or longer out of each coal
Hobbs
With my medium phunnel bowl I get about 1hr 30 mins out of each bowl using Exotica coals, 3/4 to 1 stick throughout the session, not all on the bowl at once.
inino
ya probably cocos or exoticas, i think the best bang for your buck is hookah johns coals though. never tried them but i hear they last almost as long as cocos for way cheaper.
coplinb
Yeah, johns coals are just as good as any other out there, and are one hell of a deal. I actually have some coming soon.
K1024
idk about longest lasting coals, but i do know that if you use a wind cover your coals will last longer. on my leila half a coal lasts somewhere around 45 minutes, where as on my mya 3 coals may last between 1 hr to 1:30 hrs.i use 3 kings pretty much exclusively, but i get them for about a dollar per roll. delSol_si
I cannot tell you from personal experience, but I have read that coco naras are great long lasting coals. I read that Codename067 suggests them. I watched his youtube vids and instantly decided I wanted the kind of smoke he was getting. Try going to the review section for coals. gaia.plateau (I think that is the name) has an awesome review comparing coco naras to exotica coals. Either way, from all that I have read, natural coals normally last longer, but are more difficult to light. I am planning on ordering a Km soon with some other stuff...I am thinking about ordering coco naras with it.
elev8
thanks guys, i'm going to try out coconara first, then three kings and exotica. I'll try hookah johns too.Take care of yourselves

The reason the coals lasted longer on the leila is that there is a lot less air being allowed to pass by the coals.
joelhookah
I have used the ones pictured in the thread, the Hookah John coals, and coconaras among tons of others. I smoke using Coconaras exclusively now. If I HAD to use QLs I would grab some HookahJohn QLs, had them before and they are awesome. I get Coconaras for $13.34 a box shipped so thats pretty cheap, cant complain. And they last a good 45 minutes with no windcover and heavy smoking. AmunRa
I like Exoticas and Coco Naras. I haven't tried Hookah John's stuff yet, but that site has gotten really good reviews. I think I am going to try HJ the next time I put in an order.Best of luck!
elev8
thanks again guys. And also, what coals can "give" the heaviest hits? Any tips on getting great strong hits?Take care
Hippo_Master
I say C-hookah coals last the longest, noticeably. Good clouds is all about setup, packing, heat management, and hole placement. Experiment with those, or search some threads!(Searching is more fun than waiting for 20 people to reply to you)

Moving them around on the bowl, adding a windcover, etc. Ha sorry i should have clarified that.Over-all, ice actually takes away from the formation of gigantic clouds everyone loves so much. inino
i dont know what you mean by heaviest hit. if you mean biggest cloud then you can make any coal do that by just getting the heat to the point were if you add any more it will be harsh. elev8
oh i see, i thought some coals were just stronger than others. I had aklah quiklite ones so far, and i had to use two of those at once to get some heavy hits. They didn't last too long though
ambuletzd2h
with me personally longest lasting would be 3kings for quicklights and starlights for naturals
Hippo_Master
Coal longevity also depends on how many/how large your foil holes are, how often you pull, and how hard you pull; your actions are what keeps them going. QL coals aren't the best value for coals, but if you are unable to use a stove to light coals, then you are gonna have to stick with Quik Coals. Akhla aren't bad from when I have experimented with them, I have had a couple shatter on me though, but that happens. C-hookah quik's are the best I have tried, they are Coconut, and they are the best value for QL coals - also, their ignition chemical seems to last the longest, if you leave other QL coals open to air for extended periods (month or so) they will fail to ignite fully, or at all. C-hookah coals are your best bet, available on HookahJohn.com. Al Awa'el Coconut Coals (the picture in an earlier post) are what I use personally and I love 'em. Japanese Coals are well made, I don't prefer the chemicals though; hence the reason I don't use QL coals.Ohh, and if you could do one thing to save yourself in the future; Don't get into Exotica coals. ColibriDon
For long lasting, quality coals, go with Cocos. CH coals from Hookah John are great if you can light them outside...otherwise, I would advise against it. I had a good size gathering last week (3 hookahs, one of them a 4-hose oblelisk) and had to light 9 of them. Maybe this was unwise initially but my smoke detector proved it. It freaked out. Luckily, I just busted out my little stove and moved to the porch to light. Go with Cocos. No smell, and last about 1-1.5 hours. Very good coal and the price difference isn't enough to justify the smell CH coals give off, in my opinion. It smells like a camp fire. Yuck for inside.
